![]() ![]() ![]() I was watching the original War of the Worlds (George Pal version), when I had this idea. Getting Aliens and Alien Technology Spread All Over The Earth The acronym I had come up with was originally something like "Super Sentai Alien Rangers Force" so it has to have aliens. I need to figure out a way to get that in there. There are robot (or android) firefighters, construction workers, and safety workers.Īliens are where most super powers come from, and also where most villains are going to come from. So for the year I will throw in an homage to that briefly weird period in Marvel and set everything in 2099.Īndroids are constant companions to people, and robotics play an important role in society. I want something in between, but maybe closer to A.I. takes place in an undefined future where ecological disaster has destroyed New York (and Venice). Not too far in the future (not the 30th century), but far enough. Since I am already using a pastiche of futuristic action movies and since it isn't quite clear wtf is going on in the Power Rangers I will just a vaguely undefined "future" Earth timeline. and somehow come out with a superhero campaign.Īll original content but still using the Earth as a setting. I have also been really impressed with Transformers and wanted to work that in (this seems like a perfect match, really), as well as something futuristic from a pair of movies I saw: AI, and I, Robot. So I thought, since I'm playing right now (and not DMing anything seriously) I might put together a superhero campaign, but kinda in the style of this "Sentai" genre. There's a season of Power Rangers Galaxy where a bad guy turns good and joins the team, there's all kinds of classic comic book stuff in there, in later seasons. I really got into the episodes of Wild Force where this one ki-rin-esque villainess (Toxica, played by the beautiful Sonja Kwok) has her horn stolen by another even worse bad guy, and is helped by her rogue-friend Jindrax. Well, as it turns out, not every season was like that first season. It always seems to end with the bad guy growing super-huge, the power rangers jump into their giant robot, they battle, and that's it. The acting is kinda faked up, and the stories are kinda the same. The costumes range from Sid & Marty Kroft silly to stunningly awesome. Now, the Power Rangers are kinda dopey, at least how I remembered the first season or two of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers which I used to watch in Lubbock. Lately (for weeks now, actually) it has been Power Rangers. Like, on Sundays, there's kind of a dead-spot on evening TV right before I go to bed, so lately I've let the kids watch whatever. I mentioned this briefly in another thread. ![]()
